Meet our driver Peter

Last week we caught up with Peter and we wanted to share his SubTrux journey with you this is what he had to say.

Hi, My name is Peter, I drive a PBS vehicle which is Kenworth Superdog with a three Axel trailer, it is a quarry spec truck, with a mass weight of 34 tonnes. My business is called Pacamat which I’ve been operating for over 8 years, I’ve been in the industry as a driver for other companies for over 18 years now.

How did you find out about SubTrux?

I found out about SubTrux through another driver Ronny who heard I’d had enough, Ronny encouraged me to give it a go. At the end of last year, I put my truck up for sale and was in the process of closing down my business. I was so sick of the groundhog days, I was sick of the long hours, over the stress of not knowing where the next job is coming from, fed up with all the weekend work and honestly just felt the stress wasn’t worth it.

How long have you been working with SubTrux?

I joined SubTrux in March 2022 and I can honestly say I now see much better income from what I was earning but most of all it comes with less stress, and less complexity, it’s so much easier to get work and I can plan the hours I want to work.

What do you think SubTrux does well?

I really like your set-up and structure, with everything done through the app and the team we deal with is great. “You ask us if we want to work on Saturday, you don’t demand it and best of all you don’t punish us if we don’t work”.. You advertise the work and we choose the work..

Plus the people who we deal with every day at SubTrux make it really easy. The job can be challenging but with the right people, it’s less drama. We do appreciate you and the team running around getting us the work- it doesn’t go unnoticed.

What have you enjoyed the most about working with SubTrux?

There is no added pressure from SubTrux, I can choose what jobs I want to take. I know ahead of time the earning potential. The biggest change has been seeing the pay come in weekly, for a small business like mine, this makes a massive difference, to me, to my family and to my life. Plus all the paperwork is done, no going back 30 days to check, cash flow is great, there are no more 30-day terms, I’m in front and I am no longer stressing out about chasing payments.

In the Quarry game you never know where you’re going, you have to be prepared for anything, you have to carry more fuel as you get your job at the weighbridge, it could be a few km away or the other side of the state. The blessing with SubTrux is I know the day before where my jobs will be, and what I will be doing.

Having the flexibility now to choose my jobs and I actually knowing where I am going for the whole day is huge. Some people think that is no big deal, but when you know where you are going from the night before you can plan how much fuel you need. For the first time in a long time, I dont need to carry 1,000 litres of fuel every day. Therefore I burn less fuel, which costs less. I honestly love this from SubTrux now I know where I’ll finish.

What has changed in your world if anything since joining SubTrux?

I can plan my life, I can be there and see my family and most importantly my wife is happier! SubTrux gives me more time with my family..and I can commit to things to be there for my family, friends and the things I want to do. I know ill be home by 4 on this day or that, just from being able to choose and knowing the jobs from the night before.

The people are great to work with, we solve problems together and there is never an issue, no one is holding a grudge and we all do our best. The clients seem to be happy too with good customer feedback through the app.

What would you say to someone thinking of signing up to drive with SubTrux?

Join us at SubTrux, here we work as a team, we can get jobs done together for the benefit of the customers and ourselves, when things come up we can be flexible. Don’t be scared or worried about the technology. It takes a couple of goes to learn how to use the app. But just have a go after the second or third time you will get it, and the team is here to help.

The app once you understand it – it really is self-explanatory, tells you what you are going to do.. What you can earn, what type of job it is.
