MORE FUEL EXCISE IS BEING INVESTED BACK INTO INFRASTRUCTURE PROJECTS.

As the economy recovers from the COVID-19 lockdown, the federal Budget shows that net fuel excise to be collected will recover slightly over the next few years to about $13 billion in 2023-24.

Meanwhile, the Government’s spending on land transport infrastructure is expected to grow rapidly. From this year, the proportion of the excise returned to land transport infrastructure will increase from 82 per cent to more than 100 per cent in 2022-23.
