Western Australia road safety

Here are some interstate news about road constructions.

The Western Australian Government has committed $22.6 million toward addressing black spots and safety issues along its roadways.

A total of 83 projects will be funded by the state’s 2022-23 Black Spot Program. Upgrades will include road modifications, installation of safety barriers, raised platforms, new street lighting, safety signage and pavement markings.

The program will be delivered in partnership with local government bodies, which will contribute a further $6.3 million towards the program, increasing the total spend to $28.6 million.

Projects funded under the scheme have been identified and prioritised based on incident history and road safety audits. 50 of these projects will be conducted on metropolitan roads, while the remaining 33 will be undertaken on regional roads.

Western Australian Transport Minister, Rita Saffioti, said road safety was an ongoing priority for the state.
